Hi all I have never contributed to this site before but have taken loads so thank you. I have made a load of end of unit tests this year and so felt I should share. They are as similar to actual unit 1 and 2 papers s possible but are all 20 markers (easy to see progress/ regress over time) and we normally give 25 minutes. Markschemes to follow Thanks GeorgeContinue

Hi everyone, What did you and your pupils think of the exam today? My first response is that the foundation was really tough, especially the 6 mark questions on Topic 5 Coasts and 8 Extreme climates. In fact they could easily have been swapped with thre higher questions! SarahContinue

I just wondered what everyone else's thoughts were on changing specifications? I'm finding that this spec is seriously letting the students down. I had 100% A*-C last year and this year will not be anywhere near the same. I am dissappointed with the way questions are worded and how the students are tested on their knowledge. Does anyone else have these problems or concerns?Continue

My students took Unit 2 today and came out crestfallen, particularly about question 7This question did not at all reflect the syllabus or text books about Development Dilemmas.I am very disappointed with this syllabus. The students learn so much and then are given obscure questions that are usually obsessed with sustainability.I will definitely move away from Edexcel as soon as we canContinue

HelloI'm covering a maternity leave and have been asked by the department to teach Unit 1 topics in 5 lessons only... the topic we are starting next week is the rivers one, a topic the school has not done before so there are no resources. If anyone has 5 compact 1-hour lessons (or could recommend what I teach in these 5 lessons) + homeworks which could cover other parts of the chapter, I would be more than grateful.I know that this is a long-shot but I think the rivers chapter looks wordy and I…Continue

I've had a go at producing a revision booklet for our students. It's based on the green Oxford textbook. Might be useful for others.

Almost all case studies follow those published in the Oxford Textbooks - please check content before delivering there maybe errors. I have used these in revision sessions to generate mindmaps with students - they have commented on its usefulness.

Hi! I've been making revision videos for my year 10 and 11 students and posting them on youtube. They're not amazing, mainly just me talking through some of the key points in each unit, but quite a few of my students havesaid they have found them useful. There are just 5 up at the moment, but more to follow over the next couple of weeks. If you think they will be useful search for 'miss room geography' on youtube and take a look!
