New Edexcel B GCSE Geography

Creating a new course together...

Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone has planned any lessons to deliver the Australia DME? I am an NQT and am the only GCSE geography teacher in my school so could really do with some guidance if you have planned anything!

I will be forever grateful!

Hi Meg,
have done an activity sheet students can work through plus a 'mock' paper (no mark scheme) so they can get an idea of what kind of questions they will be doing.

feel free to use / modify

hope it helps!

Hello Anne. The Grampound DME can be found here http://community.edexcel.com/files/folders/geography/entry2768.aspx on the Community site or in Sample Assessment Materials section on the main site 'Additional Sample Assessment Material' http://www.edexcel.com/quals/gcse/gcse09/geography/b/Pages/default....

I have found all the definitions for the words in italics. There are a lot more than on the old spec for the students to learn! Could someone check my definitions? Thanks

A powerpoint that I downloaded on Australia's population given at a marketing lecture. It has some useful information, graphs and maps.

There are some you tube clips on Aborigines that pupils found interesting for the Australia topic.
Some work sheets attached ! The Australia fact file sheet- pupils have to work in pairs to complete their individual sheet. One has the kuala and one has the kangaroo sheet. They can't look at each others sheet. Its a speaking activity. Each tells the other the content of their sheet. They check the booklet fact file page 5 after 15 minutes to find out what they have missed.
I have also attached a card sort on Malthus.

Thanks to everyone for all the useful bits- I have uploaded what I will be giving my year 10 this week with exam type questions at the end of each section. Some bits taken from things here and some extras - Only been able to do this due to an extra weeks holiday in Seattle thanks to the volcano!! Sorry if it doesn't appear quite right on first pages - its saved from an open office format which may not exactly transfer.

Hi, thanks to all who have uploaded resources.
This is just a glossary with space to write in answers. A nice homework!
