Over 5,000 schools
in England are registered with the GLP as Partner Schools and are benefiting from the GLP support
. In addition to the positive impact that global learning has on pupils' engagement, knowledge, skills and values, the programme has also been highlighted by Ofsted through guidance for inspectors.
More than 350 schools are leading GLP Partner School networks as GLP Expert Centres. These Expert Centres receive funding of at least £3,375
, training and local support to lead their GLP network. There is just one more opportunity
for schools to apply to become an Expert Centre before the final training session in January 2017.
*The GLP is funded by the UK government and the actual amount awarded to each school is dependent on the number of schools in their GLP network. All schools can join the programme, but funding is only available to Key Stages 2 and 3 in state schools in England. The GLP in England (GLP-E) is managed by a consortium of partners: Pearson (lead), Geographical Association, UCL Institute of Education, Oxfam UK, Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), SSAT and Think Global.
