"Whereabouts in SE London are you?  There are lots of networks for Geography Teachers in Bromley and Bexley if you are anywhere near here."

"That seems very harsh Alexandra. Our school gets 5 hours every 2 weeks and it's still quite a push to get through everything."

Calling London Geography Teachers

The results for my department last year were dire slipping by 10% from the previous year. My new head has suggested I contact other schools with a similar intake to ours in SE London and identify and good practice that they use to achieve good results much better than ours that I could transfer to our department.I am also looking at how much time each department is given to teach the GCSE. We have 2 lessons per week 55 minutes which although this is the guided learning time feels impossible to…See More

New SAMs?

Another entry again, but I was just wondering whether anyone knew when the new SAM's materials were likely to be released. When I went to an Edexcel Get started and teaching event in June we were told that it would be September but am just wondering on the timescale so as much exam practise can be done with Yr 10 as possible. (and also so we can make sure we are teaching as closely to the spec as possible)

Thanks

Terminology is it LEDC, LIC or just developing country?

The green Oxford textbook uses HIC/LIC/MIC but there seems to be no mention in exam questions of this terminology.

Am I going to confuse students if I start using it and then they are simply referred to as in the Oxford textbook developed and developing.

Is… Continue
